Paulette Ibarra

El Centro, California.- Metropolitan areas of Yuma and El Centro recorded again the highest unemployment rates during January in the United States, according to a report released by the Department of Employment of this country.

By publishing their document with revised figures for the first month of the year, indicates that El Centro had the highest record with 26.4 percent and Yuma with 24.5 percent, while adding that ten of the eleven cities with the highest rate unemployment in the American Union are in California.

These towns neighboring the city of Mexicali, placed their records of unemployment above the national (8.8%).

With regard to two of the major urban centers of California: San Diego and Los Angeles, their unemployment rate was 9.3 and 12.1 percent respectively.

It should be noted that unemployment levels have shown a downward trend in California, however, is not proving to the desired speed, which helps to continue leading the unemployment rolls.
